Dress Shopping Tips for a Full Figure
By E. Green

If you are above "sample size", which a good many of us happen to be, then shopping for a wedding gown can be a fairly trying experience. Most bridal magazine models are pencil thin, and it can be difficult to imagine the same dress, 4 or more sizes larger than the photo. Fortunately, some designers now design, as well as advertise, larger sized gowns on full figured models.
- Phone ahead to bridal stores to find out if they carry samples in plus sizes.
- Accentuate your good features.
- Go for simple, classic lines.
- Avoid lots of beading and large accessories.
- Wear sleeves if you don't feel comfortable with the look of your arms.
- Never buy a dress in a smaller size with the intention of losing weight. If you do lose weight, way to go! Just get your gown taken in.
- Get specially fittted for your wedding lingerie. Choose pieces that will create smooth lines under your gown.
- If you live in the Vancouver area, check out Diane's Lingerie on South Granville or Bare Essentials in Steveston.
- Be sure to choose something that you love, and that you will feel comfortable wearing!
